About

Five tabbed panels display U.S. macroeconomic series: the Fed dual-mandate variables (GDP growth, CPI, unemployment, Atlanta Fed GDPNow), GDP expenditure components, inflation measures (CPI, PCE, PPI), CPI sub-components, and payroll changes by sector with the unemployment rate. Uses BEA GDP and PCE, BLS inflation and payrolls, and Atlanta Fed GDPNow.

Instructions

Read the Combined tab to see whether growth, inflation, and labor move together or diverge. Note divergence signals uncertainty about the policy path; alignment reinforces the prevailing direction. Use the GDP, Inflation, Components, and Jobs tabs to isolate which leg is driving the move.

Signals

  • Growth up - GDP or GDPNow rises vs the prior print on the Combined or GDP path.
  • Growth down - GDP or GDPNow falls vs the prior print.
  • Inflation up - CPI / PCE / PPI rise on the Inflation tabs.
  • Jobs cool - Payroll change slows or unemployment rises on the Jobs tab.

Tabs

  • Combined - Dual-mandate panel: GDP, CPI, unemployment, Atlanta Fed GDPNow.
  • GDP - Expenditure components (PCE, investment, government, net exports).
  • Inflation - Headline CPI, PCE, and PPI measures.
  • Components - CPI sub-components.
  • Jobs - Payroll changes by sector with the unemployment rate.
